Why get certified?

The Russian Federation?s share in many other nations’ exports is by far not the smallest one. Under Russian law, foreign products imported into the country must meet international quality standards and are thus subject to certification. Both the product itself and the manufacturer’s production processes can be certified.

What are the benefits of certification?

A product that gets a GOST R certificate after passing a certification process and as a result of an expertise has no problems when it comes to customs formalities. Companies that fail to realise the need for certification inevitably lose their positions in the Russian market.

What is certification?

This is a compliance verification procedure through which an organisation independent from the manufacturer ( seller, contractor) or the consumer (buyer) confirms in writing that the products comply with specified requirements.

What is a certificate?

This is an official document certifying that the product in question fully complies with certain requirements (quality, safety, etc.)/

What types of certification are there?

There are different types of certification. The classification given below is conditional and intended for those with a general idea about the subject.

  • By nature: mandatory and voluntary,
  • By system: sanitary (by the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development), quality (by the Federal Technical Regulation and Metrology Agency), fire safety (by the Ministry of Internal Affairs), construction (by the Federal Construction and Housing Agency), etc.

Is it true that certificates differ in colour?

Yes, it is. There are «yellow,» «blue,» and «red» certificates, including sanitary certificates, certificates of conformity, fire safety certificates, measuring instrument type approvals, certificates issued by the Federal Construction and Housing Agency and the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, etc.

There are two types (colours) of certificates of conformity:

  • «Yellow» for products and facilities subject to mandatory certification,
  • «Blue» for all other products not included in the lists of products subject to mandatory certification. These can be certified on a voluntary basis.

Who issues certificates?

Certificates are issued by independent organisations authorised by relevant ministries and agencies. Certificates can be issued by an authorised certifying body against certain documents, such as test reports, reports of sanitary inspection authorities, specifications, standard specifications, constitutional documents, contracts, etc.

What is ISO 9000?

ISO 9000 is a series of international standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These standards set forth requirements to the construction, structure and functioning of quality management systems, i.e. requirements to the organization?s management system that must be met to ensure stable quality of products or services.

ISO 9001 Certificate

An ISO 9001:2000 certificate is an official document confirming that the company’s production or service activities including after-sale service are organised in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems — Requirements international standard (GOST R ISO 9001-2001).

What do I need an ISO 9001 certificate for?

  • To bid on government or international contracts;
  • To make your relationships with authorities easier — it is easier to have a product certified with an ISO 9000 certificate;
  • To enhance your market image and streamline your consumer-related processes.

Where do I get an ISO certificate?

If ISO certification t is a condition of your eligibility for a bid-, the best option is to ask the party inviting tenders for a list of acknowledged certifiers. In the absence of any specific requirements, we can recommend some of our proven partners.
Can I prove compliance with GOST R standards with an earlier ISO quality certificate?

An ISO quality certificate is no proof of your compliance with the GOST R standards. There are differences in the requirements set by the Federal Technical Regulation and Metrology Agency and the ISO system of standards.
